Debit Order Abuse has increased in South Africa. Therefore, the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) has advised that the Payments Association of South Africa (PASA) and banks address this.  

DebiCheck is the introduced solution that will soon roll out and aims to resolve various issues regarding Debit Order Fraud.

What exactly is DebiCheck?

  • DebiCheck is the name of a new type of debit order and is a bank product used by companies and consumers. Note: It is not a separate company or third party. 
  • DebiCheck allows you to confirm the details of your debit order with your bank, allowing your bank to verify your Debit Order Agreement. 
  • Therefore, the bank will only be able to process a debit order to your account when you give consent (electronically confirm your debit order) beforehand.
