I signed up for debt review in 2013, I saw the process was very slow and decided to pay some of debt off without consulting my debt counsellor, I’m about to finish my last instalment which will mean I am debt free! What is do I need to do to get name cleared? What fees would I be paying if any to acquire this as I don’t even have the terms of my contract?

Good day,

Thank you for getting in touch. To clear your Debt Review from your name you will need a Clearance Certificate. You can get your Clearance Certificate from your debt counsellor when;

1. you have brought arrears up to date and are able to pay original instalments, or
2. if your debt has been settled.

Send your paid-up letters to your Debt Counsellor and they will then be able to issue you with a Clearance Certificate, they will also then send your Clearance Certificate to your creditors and the credit bureaus who are then required to remove your Debt Review listing form your credit record.

If you have trouble with your current debt counsellor you can ask any debt counsellor to issue you a Clearance Certificate – there will be a small admin fee required for the service.

Kind regards
