I would like to cancel my debt review and the “under Debt Review” status on my credit to be removed.
I have paid up all the debt that I had under debt review, on my own since the counsellor stopped debiting my account and making payments to my creditors.
However, I have tried to get hold of my debt counsellor with no luck.
Is there a way to clear my record using a different company than I used to join?
Thank you for getting in touch.
Well done on paying back all your debt. That is no small feat.
To clear your Debt Review listing you will need a Debt Counsellor to issue a Clearance Certificate.
A Clearance Certificate can be issued when:
1. you have brought arrears up to date and are able to pay original instalments, or
2. if your debt has been settled.
Any Debt Counsellor can issue you with one. They will probably ask you a small admin fee. But after the Clearance Certificate is issued your creditors and credit bureaus are required by law to remove the Debt Review listing from your credit record.
